Let the Barbecue Season Open

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

It’s time to clean off your grills, put on your cut-off’s and flip flops and enjoy the day out bbqing and smoking terrific Cigars. Along with my favorite smokes, I like to sip on a glass of scotch and just relax. After such a long winter, which appeared to be longer than years past, last weekend was perfect BBQ weather. I was able to ultimately open all of my windows and air out the house. I don’t smoke within, but it required airing out anyhow. I tuned up my lawn mower because yes, sadly it is that time of year as well . The snow is gone and the grass is growing. I don’t mind cutting my grass and keeping the lawn up. There’s actually a great satisfaction to a good looking lawn and worth all the effort. This past weekend, I smoked my favourite cigar and BBQ’d up some ribs and pork steaks. I really like to think of myself as the master chef, king of the grill. There is nothing like lighting those coals and going to the town on bountiful meats and veggies. Of course I am a charcoal man, I love the flavour of the griddle. If you use gas, it does not get the smokey flavour that I love and is way overrated. I invited all of my buddies and of course the other half and youngsters were there. It’s a bit to cold to swim yet, but once commemorative day comes around, I’m going to open the pool for the season. My children love swimming and splashing around, I am also known to take a dip with cigar and scotch in hand. Summer is a great time to get together with buddies and relatives and enjoying life they way you need to.

Getting The Most From Your Smokes

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

To really rate a fine cigar, you should view it as more than a plant in a wrapper.  It is far more than that.  Great premium cigars are rare. One of my favorites is CAO Cigars, a handrolled smoke that never dissatisfies. There ’s been great endurance, observation, and care in creating it, from the rolling procedure all the way to the local tobacco vendor.  Keep in mind the wine/cigar situation.  You would never drink a glass of 200-year-old wine while eating hot dogs and watching the tennis game with your comrades?  Of course you would not.  That would be against the law!  The eventuality is the same with smokes. A premium smoke deserves the perfect environment.  Atmosphere: Start by finding the ideal Atmosphere.  Select a place that’s beautiful, where you will not be disturbed. A spot with some stunning country landscape is fully great, particularly during the fall and spring when it is not too cold and not so hot. The proper drink  to have with you:  If you are a new smoker, it’s important to understand that actual beverages will go with cigars.  There is no coach, as everybody has a different taste.  Most high visibility cigar smokers , however , will usually prefer a pleasant strong tea, coffee, or potentially a cognac.  Some table wines are also awfully good colleagues for a pleasant cigar.  Do Not puff on an empty belly Have a little snack before you puff, nothing that may overpower your palate.  Choose something that isn’t terribly strong.  Just a little snack to wake your taste receptors up and prepare them for the escapade to come.  Light your cigar and like it for all its’ worth. Take it slow and get most out of your cigar experience.

How to Identify a Fake Cuban Cigar

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

The number 1 rule of identifying counterfeit or fake Cuban cigars is the age-old asserting “caveat emptor” – consumers beware. Always keep this in mind whenever you are purchasing Havanas, even when you’re purchasing them overseas in what appears to be a reputable tobacconist’s corporation. Many fake Cuban cigars are sold from storefronts in states where they’re utterly illegal and often without the understanding of the store owner. Instead you should try a similar cigar that is still legal, like miami suites cigars.  Remember counterfeiters are driven by profit potential and wherever you are in the world the profit on Cuban cigars is always a tempting target for wrongdoers.

Top of the Line Cigar Production

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Just as the EU wine industry experienced tension and growing pains as US wine producers gained global accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market facts that they are now not the world figure in cigar production and cigar quality.  In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that suggests ) will not, can not return Cuba to its glory days.  The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in many of the states mentioned above, and there is not any indication that they can go into bankruptcy if the embargo is lifted.  They are gaining notoriety and accolades for manufacturing quality products that the US cigar backer has grown to accept and love.

Cigars: Normal Etiquette

Becoming acquainted with Cigars: The ring gauge of the cigar will give you a general indication of how strong the taste is. The bigger the ring size, typically means, the smoother, fuller, slower and cooler the smoke will be. Cutting a cigar: The cap of a hand rolled cigar must be cut before lighting it. You can do this with punch cutters, cigar scissors, or guillotine cutters. The guillotine is recommended for the most efficient cut. Make sure not to remove the complete cap off, because it may damage its wrapper. Premium cigar lovers are known for their admiration of food and wine. One of the best times to offer a cigar is after a meal. Other great times to indulge in your favorite smoke include: during or after business meetings, while walking the dog, while driving to and from work or practically just any time you’re looking to enjoy the fulfillment and relaxation you get by a hand rolled cigar. Smoking a Stogie: Cigars are meant to be enjoyed and savored for the feel, taste and the aroma. Draw slowly. Don’t draw to hard. If your cigar goes out, it is proper to relight it within one to two hours. Any later than that, it will taste limp.
